Create a cute Spider & his web in watercolour using wax as a resist, and painting a wet in wet technique. Apologies for the audio cutting out at the end !!! (it was late)You will need : Watercolour paper or card (the non coated inside of clean food packaging is good if you don't have watercolour paper), Watercolour paint, a white oil pastel / crayon or white wax candle, Brushes, water, Black marker or sharpie.* A quick practice drawing in GREYLEAD on scrap paper.Divide an A4 page into thirds with your eye - a third of the way down make a dot in the middle of the paper - this will be the centre of the web. Next draw lines out to the edge of the page, and finally smiley mouths in between the lines to create the web. Draw a squiggly line down from the centre of the web making sure you leave space for your spider.* Draw again - this time in the WHITE WAX Crayon/pastel or candle on your good Watercolour paper or card. * Wet the watercolour paper with a spray bottle/ sponge or big brush going right over the wax area. (there should not be pools of on the paper, just wet).*Using your colour choice of blues & purples for a night sky dab the paint all over the paper and over the wax. THE WAX WILL RESIST THE PAINT - showing your web and the dangling bit of web.*Once DRY you can draw or paint in your spider at the end of the dangly piece of web. Use a white gel or paint pen to add your finishing touches.
