About me!!

Hi, my name is Jenni, Creator and Maker at The Arty Tribe,

Creating has been a part of me for as long as I can remember. I am constantly experimenting with new ideas, new mediums and techniques. My love of art stemmed from my mother, as she taught me about the world of textiles. Venturing off into my own art practice, I found my love of painting. At first Acrylic Ink on Fabric was my thing, then ink, gouache, watercolour and oils - any medium. I just love painting and experimenting.

Other areas I’ve studied and delved into over the years are Silk painting, Pewter Art, Mosaic, and many, many different forms of paper art !!!! Clay too is a medium that excites me. I love the process of making and creating whether it be clay, a mixed media creation, print making or with metals.

At the moment I am really enjoying the loose and fluid qualities of Alcohol inks, watercolours and fluid art, as they are all very much process driven. Nature and the awesome patterns in nature inspire me, and I love to include botanicals even in abstract creations.!

Whilst I have been teaching for the past 24 years, I have also explored candle-making, aroma therapy oil and designing jewellery businesses. However, I have discovered that sharing my knowledge and passion for all things creative is what I want to do more than anything. I love inspiring creativity in the children and adults who attend my after-school art classes, holiday programs, workshops and in studio classes.

My Teaching Philosophy

I am exceptionally passionate about passing on a variety of creative knowledge to enable people of all ages to find their creative talent and expression.

My aim when engaging with artists of all ages is to:

  • share my enthusiasm and experience for Art making and creating.

  • to expose them to a variety of art and various craft techniques

  • to expand their creativity beyond popular culture and introduce them to Art forms of other cultures; encouraging a multicultural learning environment

  • to open and nurture creative confidence and to extend imaginative minds by providing stimulating activities

  • to build artistic self-esteem, expression, problem solving abilities, focus and perseverance through praise and encouragement

  • to assist in building resilience and social awareness through Art

but ABOVE ALL, to make sure that people are inspired and have fun whilst learning, and never lose their passion for the Arts.
