Sunset Silhouette - Trees

Create a Sunset silhouette with Trees down a hill - add your own focal point!! Place masking or washi tape around some heavyweight paper or card.Choose your sunset colours, colour your bands of colour. Blend the colours together using water and a brush, being very careful to rinse your brush out towards the bottom and blend lightly over the orange/pink to blue area. If you mix too much it can create a big brown area. Leave it to dry properly. Using a Black sharpie or marker draw in your ground, a hill or mountains on one side, and trees on the other. Remember trees close to you are bigger, and get smaller the further away they are. Having different sizes add depth to your picture. Add trees down the side of the hill. I left a space between the hill & trees for the focal point - add your own Focal Point - I would love to see what you come up with??Add your moon and stars in the sky with a white gel pen. Please share your unique creations either on The Arty Tribe Facebook page or email me, and I can share them.............

Spiderweb Watercolour Resist

Create a cute Spider & his web in watercolour using wax as a resist, and painting a wet in wet technique. Apologies for the audio cutting out at the end !!! (it was late)You will need : Watercolour paper or card (the non coated inside of clean food packaging is good if you don't have watercolour paper), Watercolour paint, a white oil pastel / crayon or white wax candle, Brushes, water, Black marker or sharpie.* A quick practice drawing in GREYLEAD on scrap paper.Divide an A4 page into thirds with your eye - a third of the way down make a dot in the middle of the paper - this will be the centre of the web. Next draw lines out to the edge of the page, and finally smiley mouths in between the lines to create the web. Draw a squiggly line down from the centre of the web making sure you leave space for your spider.* Draw again - this time in the WHITE WAX Crayon/pastel or candle on your good Watercolour paper or card. * Wet the watercolour paper with a spray bottle/ sponge or big brush going right over the wax area. (there should not be pools of on the paper, just wet).*Using your colour choice of blues & purples for a night sky dab the paint all over the paper and over the wax. THE WAX WILL RESIST THE PAINT - showing your web and the dangling bit of web.*Once DRY you can draw or paint in your spider at the end of the dangly piece of web. Use a white gel or paint pen to add your finishing touches.
